Kovai Kutralam Falls

Kovai Kutralam Falls located in Siruvani amidst a protected forest area, about 37 km from Coimbatore. The Siruvani River, which flows in the Siruvani Hills, which makes the Kovai Kutralam waterfalls. It is famous for its tasty water and it is marked to be the second tastiest lake in the world.

It is located on the western ghat mountain range that lies to the west of this city. Limited bus service is available from the city and this area is out of bounds after 5 pm. Government busses stop at the first check post (Sadivayal). Beyond this no vehicles are allowed as it is a protected forest area. Only the forest department vechicals are allowed. Those vechiles will stop at second check post. From the second check post, a 1 KM walk takes you right to the falls.The way to the falls is surrounded by thick forests, and teak gardens.

Devarsholai a small village, which is located on the main Ooty to Kundha road. Its about 4 km from Melur Kaikatty and around 16 km from Ooty.  Its fully surrounded by tea plantations.

If we travel 3 – 4 km through the Tea Plantations from Devarsholai Bazaar we will find small settlements  They called this place “4 number”. Its a beautiful place. The Tea Plantation workers are living there.

Coonoor

5616 ft (1711.8 m)  main intermediate station on the line at site of the locomotive workshops as well as the top end of the rack rail.

The Coonoor ghat road rapidly supplemented all other routes to the Nilgiris, and Coonoor at the head of this ghat which possessed essential advantages gained its importance.

Coonoor Stands on a lower ridge of the plateau at an altitude of 1,858 mts. and has a railway station on the Mettupalayam – Udhagamandalam route.

Coonoor is an important trade centre for tea and the Tea Board of India, has a branch office here.

Around and near Coonoor, the tourists could enjoy the beautiful places of interest like Sim’s Park, the Lady Canning’s Seat. Lamb’s rock. Dolphine’s Nose, the Law’s Falls, the Droog.

Ketti Valley View

Ketti Valley View is located on the Ooty-Coonoor road, around 7 km away from the main city of Ooty. It is the second largest valley in the world, which comprises different villages that are part of Coimbatore and Mysore. It covers a wide area, extending from the plains of Coimbatore to the Mysore plateau.

The valley is home to several tribes, such as Todas and Badagas. These tribal people are experts in cultivating fresh vegetables and fruits in the valley. There are over 14 villages in this valley that belong to the tribes of Badagas. The tribes living these villages wake up before the sunrise and sleep after sunset, representing perfect rural lifestyle.

Residents of this valley mainly speak Tamil and Badaga, but most of them can understand Malayalam, English and Kannada as well. Apart from the strong influences of Christian Missionaries, many residents practise Hinduism. The only engineering college in the district, CSI College of Engineering is located in this Ketti Valley.

This valley is also known as the ‘Switzerland of Southern India’ and has a pleasant climate all around the year. In summers, the temperature is around 25° Celsius and in winters it drops down to 5° Celsius.

Pine Forest, 6th and 9th Mile

After pine forest in the same road to Mysore comes both 6th and 9th mile. they both are small green hill like places. a very beautiful sight to look at. especially 9th mile. its a place that everyone must see when you go to Ooty same road leads to Pykara.

6th Mile, also known as the Shooting Spot, is located just 6 miles from the city centre. This tourist spot is green, extensive and replete with dense forest. Most of the Indian movies feature this shooting spot owing to its natural beauty.
